Who's Going To Save You?

According to a NerdWallet survey, the average American is paying $555 a month in interest on their debts. That's more than $6,500 a year. In a recent article by CBS MoneyWatch, more than half of the population claims they can't handle a $500 emergency. It has also been reported that 70% of people are living paycheck-to-paycheck. According to a Gallup poll, almost 70% of the workforce are dissatisfied with their jobs. So not only are most people broke, but they work at jobs they don't like to pay bills they can barely afford. On top of all of that, money fights and money problems are one of the leading causes of divorce.

When is it time to stand up and say no more? When is it time that your future, family, and bank account become priorities? When is it time that we stop making everyone else rich off of our hard-earned money because we have to have everything right now and go into debt?  When is it time that we stop robbing ourselves of a secure future?

I realized a long time ago that I was my worst financial enemy. I realized it was my fault for the situation I found myself in. I also came to realize that there was no politician, no government, no friend, no family, no one coming to save me! I had to save myself if I ever wanted to live a financially free, secure, and prosperous life.

Notice I didn't say filthy rich? I just wanted freedom from my debts, stuff, payments, and a soul-crushing job that only served the purpose of earning a paycheck.

I wanted true freedom and opportunity, and the chance to do work that matters.

After several years, I finally created that life, and I believe anyone can do what I've done, if they're willing to put in some hard work and short-term sacrifice.

The person who can save you is staring back at you in the mirror. You are the hero of your story, and you have the power to change everything about your finances right here and now. So when is enough, enough? Let's get going!
