Don't Let This Stop You From Getting Help

I know you are.

You see it’s easy to look OK. It is actually really easy to look like you are doing very well with money. Have a nice house in a good neighborhood. Have a few new cars in the driveway and wear the latest clothes and you can fool just about anyone into thinking that you have done very well for yourself.

I want to remove the mystery.

I know the statistics. 8 out of 10 of people are living paycheck to paycheck. And 82% have less than $1,000 saved. That means if you are reading this you are more likely to be one financial crisis away from disaster than you are at really being that person you are pretending to be.

It can be an embarrassing feeling. On the outside everything looks great. But, on the inside you are crumbling. Your marriage is falling apart, your work is suffering and you are stressed beyond belief trying to figure out how you will make ends meet this month.

I know this because I used to be embarrassed. Man, I looked great on the outside. I thought I had everyone fooled.

Except myself.

I knew the real story and knowing that was a very embarrassing feeling and I didn’t want to be found out. What would people think?

Eventually the internal feelings got to be so unbearable that I didn’t care anymore. What I found out is that you might be today’s top headlines, but tomorrow someone else will take your spot. People forget and move on. That is mostly because people are usually wrapped up in their own mess. You saw the statistics.

You aren’t the only one and you certainly aren’t alone.

Embarrassment is one of the top reasons that stops people from asking for help on their finances. Overcome it and ask anyways. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
